6. Worship has one true obstacle

• That one obstacle is our sin (the flesh)
• Lack of faith – the sin which so easily entangles us
  • The struggle is truly to believe that God is for us, and that the curse is truly broken. Redemption received and applied.
• Not “wrong” style or type of music
• Not distracting kids or people in the aisles
• We are so easily satisfied in inferior pleasures – we refuse to see from the revelation of the Scripture that all of our hopes and desires and needs find fulfillment in the person of Christ
• Heaven and Hell are staggering realities, and they demand a certain demeanor. Our sinful nature trivializes both!!
  • Decreased joy at the prospect of heaven
  • Decreased solemnity at the prospect of hell
