Bringing together young adults and professionals as family...
Our Vision
Hi there! Merge is a group of young adults and professionals that desire to grow in their faith as a community of believers and an essential part of the CPC congregation. We know that in the years after college, it can be difficult to feel connected to the church and to build a group of friends that encourage us to walk true to God's calling on our lives. Perhaps you are unsure of what God's call is exactly and what that means for you personally. You've come to the right place. Many of us are single or dating, some of us are married or are engaged and we come from a lot of different backgrounds and walks of life. What we all have in common, however, is the belief that the church community should be family! Won't you be a part of that? At Merge, you'll be encouraged to make strong Christian friendships while serving the Church body and growing in your faith in Jesus as your Savior and Lord. |

Who We Are
Merge is a diverse group of post-college adults. Most of us are beginning careers, pursuing graduate studies, or exploring what might come next. At the same time, Merge is an inclusive group and we welcome the participation of people from all stages of life! Like real "families," with fathers and mothers, siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents, we're just one interdependent part of the Church body.
What We Do
As a family, our goal is to be brothers and sisters in Christ to one another, enjoying each other's company, sharing interests and activities, celebrating, sympathizing, learning, and growing together. We have a Fall and Spring middle-hour class on Sundays at CPC, a Thursday night bible study, frequent Sunday afternoon lunches together, and have done lots of fun activities together as well. Recent activities have included hiking, laser tag, skeet shooting, salsa dancing, white water rafting, and more! Currently we are studying the book of James on Thursday evenings, 7:30 PM at the Potter's House.
WWJL?
Jesus: You've known him for years ... or have you?
We've planned our Middle Hour class that begins Sunday March 2 (10:00 am in Room AC4 in the trailers behind the Potter's House) to help you take a fresh and maybe surprising look at Jesus' family, teachings, miracles, death, and resurrection. The class, which we are calling WWJL?, will be based on Philip Yancey's prizewinning book "The Jesus I never knew." We will use clips from movies about Jesus, Bible studies and discussions to uncover the Jesus of the gospels - different from the flannelgraph Sunday school figure, the sweetly smiling Victorian Savior, and the cultural clichés that tame him to fit him into comfortable religious boxes.
J.I. Packer writes of the book, "Yancey's flair for honest, vivid, well-informed down-to-earthness gives piercing power to these broodings on the gospel facts about Jesus Christ."
Come to WWJL? to discover for yourself a Master who is far more than you had ever imagined - brilliant, creative, challenging, fearless, compassionate and unpredictable - more disturbing, more comforting, and far more satisfying.
